The short version: VEQRO is a free guide, not a valuation or advice. Our values come from current asking prices, not what cars actually sell for, and VEQRO can get a car or its value wrong. Always check the car, its papers and the price yourself before you buy or sell. Please read the section “What a VEQRO value is, and isn’t” below: it limits what VEQRO is responsible for.

Who we are

VEQRO is an independent car-price check for South Africa, run by VEQRO (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/772832/07), a South African company. In these terms “VEQRO”, “we” and “us” mean VEQRO (Pty) Ltd. Contact: hello@veqro.co.za. By using the VEQRO website or app you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use VEQRO.

What VEQRO does

You scan a car, type it in or paste a listing. VEQRO identifies the South African version it thinks the car is, and shows an estimate of what that version is going for today, based on current asking prices on South African listings, with the number of listings and the date we checked. VEQRO is free. We don’t buy, sell or broker cars, and we don’t earn anything from a sale.

What a VEQRO value is, and isn’t

• It’s a guide from asking prices. Sellers ask what they like; cars often sell for less. A VEQRO value is not a sale price, a trade-in offer, a book value, or a bank, finance or insurance valuation.
• It doesn’t know the car in front of you. VEQRO can’t see condition, accident damage, service history, mileage you haven’t entered, modifications, finance still owing, or whether a car is stolen or cloned.
• Identification can be wrong. Cars are identified from photos and text by automated systems, including AI. Check the exact version, year and specifications against the car’s papers, the licence disc and the VIN.
• Values change. Listings come and go daily. A value is only as current as the date shown, and some cars have few listings (we say so when that happens).
• It isn’t advice. VEQRO doesn’t give financial, legal or mechanical advice. Before you buy or sell, inspect the car (ideally with an independent inspection), check the papers and ownership, and decide for yourself.

Using VEQRO fairly

• Only scan or upload photos you took yourself or have the right to use. Don’t use VEQRO to identify, follow or harass anyone, or to collect information about a car’s owner.
• Number plates are blurred on share cards, but check a card before you share it.
• To keep VEQRO free, new scans are limited per day. Don’t get around the limits, and don’t use bots, scrapers or scripts to access VEQRO, copy its values in bulk, or overload it.
• Don’t copy, resell or republish VEQRO’s values or data as your own, or reverse-engineer the service.
• We may limit or block use that breaks these rules or harms the service.

Our content

The VEQRO name, logo, design, text and the way we compile and present values belong to VEQRO (Pty) Ltd. You’re welcome to share your own results and share cards for personal use. Listings and the information in them belong to the people and sites that published them; VEQRO shows figures worked out from them, not the listings themselves.

The service can change

VEQRO is new and still improving. We may change, pause or stop features, or the whole service, at any time. We try hard to keep it accurate and available but can’t promise it will always work, be error-free or be available. Early-access (test) versions of the apps may have more bugs than the website.

Our responsibility to you

Because VEQRO is a free guide and can’t see the car, you use VEQRO’s values and identifications at your own risk. As far as the law allows, VEQRO (Pty) Ltd and its directors are not responsible for any loss or damage that comes from relying on them, including paying too much, selling for too little, or buying the wrong car.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other South African law that can’t be limited, or our responsibility for loss caused by our gross negligence or on purpose. Where the law does allow a limit, our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid VEQRO in the 12 months before your claim. VEQRO is currently free.

The apps

If you use VEQRO from the App Store or Google Play, these terms apply together with the store’s own terms. For the iPhone app, Apple’s standard licence for apps also applies, and Apple is not responsible for VEQRO or its support.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as VEQRO changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters, we’ll say so on the site. Using VEQRO after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. Questions or complaints: hello@veqro.co.za. We’ll try to sort out any problem with you directly first.
